Twenty years ago I earned some notoriety (principally because I annoyed various individuals - invariably self-proclaimed pillars of the business community locally) through a weekly column I penned for the Sunday Times, entitled "Money Matters". I eventually tired of the role, the editorial deadlines, threatened suits, and I gave it up. I have since submitted the occassional article, and have experimented with various other publications and media, and occassionally in protest at the rubbish that masquerades as financial journalism. However, I have never been tempted to recommit to a regular column, and I generally avoid delving too deeply into the local newspapers. However, I feel I am ready to start again; my protest at all the rubbish that I see and hear within a sector or industry which is weighed down with regulation, yet is not regulated.

I am a practitioner (I've been at it for 31 years now) so I risk being labelled a hypocrite or worse. I frankly don't care; I'm too old to give a damn what anyone else may think of me or what I will write in this blog. If I can shake things up a bit and ruffle a few feathers in the process, I will happily do so. However, I will leave it to you to judge whether the content to follow will be of any relevance or value to you.

Thank you.
